Hello and welcome to my page on juicing! I
fell in love, became addicted, became obsessed with juicing in January 2103 when I bought my first NINJA BLENDER. Then the Hubs bought me the OMEGA VERT JUICER for my b-day in June of that year. I’ve basically had a juice everyday since Jan 2013. You can read more in MY JOURNEY TO JUICING.
Well since then, through lot’s of trial and error I’ve discovered my likes and dislikes and come up with my go to recipes. I want this to be an easy place for beginner juicers, like I was, to go to get started.
First it’s important to understand the difference between Juicing and Blending. I actually did not get this when I first started. My NINJA BLENDER said it was a juicer but it did not actually extract the pulp. So true juicing extracts all the pulp and leaves a juice which is filled with all the amazing nutrients. Because the pulp and bulk has been extracted your body is able to quickly and efficiently absorb all the nutrients. Blending keeps all the pulp which makes the juice a bit thicker, more filling, and full of fiber! I tend to blend more often the juice because I like that it is a bit more filling and the fiber. It also uses less fruits and veggies than juicing and can be quicker to make and clean up. However, I find the Hubs seems to enjoy true juices more than the pulp filled blended drinks. I also like how you can throw a lot more random veggies in the juicer and not have it taste funny unlike when you blend it.
MY TOP JUICING TIPS:
FAVORITE FRUITS TO JUICE: I tend to like citrus fruits like oranges, grapefruit, and pineapple.
FAVORITE VEGGIES TO JUICE: Just about every juice I make has carrots and cucumbers in it as a veggie base. They provide great nutrition and a good amount of juice. I also love to juice a beet or sweet potato for the same reasons.
*I know most people think of kale when juicing, but I tend to only use kale to top off my juices as the juice output is so minimal I feel like it’s a waste. I use kale and spinach in my blended juices more often.
SUPER ADDS: A lemon or lime and ginger or tumeric in all juices. Wheatgrass. I also like to filter some coconut water and/or aloe vera juice through my juicer to help push through the veggies and add even more goodness to my juice!
MY FAVORITE JUICING RECIPES
MY TOP BLENDED JUICE TIPS
FAVORITE FRUITS TO BLEND: Apples all day every day as a base and then add some berries or kiwi.
FAVORITE VEGGIES TO BLEND: Spinach all the time! I can’t help myself and I hide/put spinach in everything I make! Of course some kale and cucumbers. (though I do find kale makes my smoothies a bit frothy)
SUPER ADDS: CHIA SEEDS go in just about every blended drink along with half a lemon or lime. I also like to add one of the following energy increasers AMAZING GRASS GREEN SUPERFOODS, BLACK OR RED MACA POWDER, or wheatgrass. And sometimes instead of water or in addition to I’ll add coconut water, aloe vera juice, or green tea.
OTHER ADDS: If I want my juice to be a bit more filling I’ll add a banana or avocado. Also, when I first started juicing I would add some honey or agave to make it a bit sweeter.
